I THOUGHT CYNTHIA WAS A GOLD DIGGER.
PART 2 AND CONCLUSSION
Each time I opened up the issues of us getting married, she
will tell me to hold on a little that she wants to be done with her master’s
degree, in no time she completed her national service. Six months after she
came to me telling me she intends travelling abroad for her masters that she
have been offered an admission in the UK on a scholarship by now my faith in
her was gone, but due to the love I have for her, call it stupid and idiotic
love you will be very correct, I sold off the only landed property and the car
I have to assist her in travelling, by now friends and family were already
talking of taking me for psychiatric examination.
After all, said and done Cynthia travelled to the UK for her
master’s degree, with the help of family and friends she was able to raise
enough money to pursue her dreams. At first we were always on video calls this
went on for about six months then suddenly the communication line ceased and
with this we lost touch.
Days became weeks and weeks ran into months, months
gradually turned into years, we never heard from each other again, I fell into
depression, I felt used, I was broke yes dead broke and to make matter as worse
as hell I was deep in debt all thanks to Cynthia and my “demonic” love.
I became a laughing stock, my parents and siblings made life
a living hell, it got so bad I couldn’t afford my rent thanks to Tunde my child
hood friend who took me in, I would have committed suicide but for Tunde who
gave me his shoulder to cry on, who made me see reasons to live and hope again.
It’s been two years now since Cynthia left for the Uk sure by now she is done with her master’s programme but I never heard from her again, even her parents were worried as they too were worried that they haven’t heard from their daughter.
One day after about two and a half years of her
disappearance to the Uk, of course I have moved on, a client of mine came to my
workshop to have his car fixed, in our conversations he said to me “Tony I
learnt that Cynthia is in town” which Cynthia are you talking about I asked?
Your girl of course he replied, I just moved on doing my job of fixing his car
like I didn’t hear what he said.
One afternoon while I was in the pit fixing a client’s car,
I heard a familiar female voice, asking for Paddy Mi (my Guy) for that’s how
she call me, at first I thought I was dreaming, Where is Paddy Mi (My guy) that
was when I came out of the pit and standing before me was Cynthia totally
transformed and her beauty by now was glowing like the sun. before I could say
hey, Cynthia shouted paddy mi with her hands wide opened not minding my dirty
overall, she jumped on my, clinging to me so tightly, and she sobbed profusely,
it was at that moment I knew I took the right decision in giving her all help
she needed.
It was indeed a great reunion, that was when I understood
better the feelings his father had when the prodigal son returned. Right there
and then she said to me Paddy mi (my guy) I am ready now, we can get married
now, like a planned movie and as fate would have it, I saw a man who was
passing by hawking earrings and other female accessories from him I bought a
very cheap ring and in the presence of all at the workshop even with my dirty
overall I proposed to her and she said a very load YES.
Many things happened during my studies, she said well we
have all the time to talk about those things she said when I asked why the
break in communication. Well I will be retuning back to the UK in two months’
time but not without you and not without us getting married, I still thought I was
dreaming hearing these lines of hers.
Yes, “I mean it she said,” I have helped you secure a job as
a mechanic in an auto company and you are going to resume work in the UK.
The marriage was conduct first was the registry then we had
the traditional marriage as well as Church wedding, two months came we got to
the UK the job I got was a mind blowing job and more so my field of specialty. We
settled down in the UK and today we are blessed with two lovely kids a boy and
a girl.
